What is Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty in the UK is a surgical procedure aimed at reshaping or reducing the size of the labia minora or majora, the folds of skin around the vulva. This cosmetic surgery is often sought for both aesthetic reasons and to address functional concerns related to discomfort or irritation.

The two primary types of labiaplasty are:

Labiaplasty of the Labia Minora: This procedure focuses on reducing the size or reshaping the labia minora for individuals who may experience physical discomfort or desire aesthetic enhancements.

Labiaplasty of the Labia Majora: This involves addressing the outer folds of skin, the labia majora, and can include procedures to reduce excess tissue or enhance the overall appearance.

Labiaplasty has gained popularity as a way to address personal concerns and improve self-confidence. As with any surgical procedure, individuals considering labiaplasty in the UK should consult with a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon to discuss their specific goals, potential risks, and expected outcomes. It’s crucial to have realistic expectations and to prioritize both physical and emotional well-being throughout the process.

Different types of Labiaplasy?

There are few types of labiaplasty including, but not limited to, vertical scar, V- excision and wedge excision. At London Cosmetic Surgery, you will be able to comfortably speak to the patient adviser who will listen to your concerns and help you decide the treatment option.

We have developed our assessment forms that help us, and you choose the right surgical procedure for your concern.

Labiaplasty can be done under either local or general anaesthetic, and it all depends on your choice.

Labiaplasty in the UK encompasses different types of procedures tailored to individual preferences and concerns. Here are the main types of labiaplasty:

  • Labiaplasty of the Labia Minora (Labia Minora Reduction): This type involves the surgical reduction or reshaping of the labia minora, addressing issues such as discomfort, irritation, or aesthetic preferences. Labia minora reduction is a common choice for those seeking a more symmetrical or proportionate appearance.
  • Labiaplasty of the Labia Majora (Labia Majora Reshaping): Labia majora procedures focus on the outer folds of skin, aiming to reduce excess tissue or enhance the overall appearance of the labia majora. This type of labiaplasty may address concerns related to volume loss or sagging.
  • Clitoral Hood Reduction: Some individuals may opt for a clitoral hood reduction as part of their labiaplasty, where excess tissue around the clitoral hood is reduced to enhance visibility or alleviate discomfort.
  • Combination Procedures: Surgeons may offer combination procedures that address both labia minora and labia majora, providing comprehensive improvements tailored to the individual’s desired outcome.

It’s crucial for individuals considering labiaplasty in the UK to consult with a qualified plastic surgeon. A personalised consultation allows for a thorough discussion of goals, potential risks, and expected outcomes. Maintaining realistic expectations and prioritising both physical and emotional well-being is essential throughout the process.
