Mr Alfie will use a technique that will suit you only and will design it to fit with your body aesthetics. This includes one or two consultations to discuss the procedure and whether you will benefit from it or not. Preoperative markings will be done, and special imaging techniques will be used. You will also meet the team before the surgery.
During your breast uplift consultation, Dr. Alfie Will take your medical history before he proceeds with the examination. The breast examination consists of serial measurements of your chest wall, nipple position in relation to the IMF, the line behind your breasts and the distance between the nipples and the lower part of your neck. These measurements help decide on the correct procedure that will improve the appearance of your breasts and enhance their shape.
If you are having breast implants as part of your breast uplift , then there will be a sizing station where you will try on different sizers to help you decide on the right size of your implants.
Patients should go through two ‘’sizing consultations’’ before they decide on their implant size. This is usually done with the surgeon, nurse or patient coordinator before the surgery takes place. During the consultation, patients wear a special bra and top and try few different sizers in front of a mirror till they find the size they opt to have.
Implant shape depends on existing breast shape. Surgeons recommend considering your natural breast shape when choosing. Round implants suit round breasts with centered nipples, while teardrop implants work better for slightly droopy breasts with lower-set nipples.
Patients can opt for three implant planes:

B - Under the muscle
C - Dual plane
The key aim is to minimize risks like rupture, leakage, or feeling the implant edges by ensuring adequate natural tissue coverage.
Breast uplift or mastopexy surgery would normally involve a minor degree of reduction due to the excision of the excess stretched skin. Most of the patients would lose less than half a cup after the surgery.

Drains help suck out any fluid or blood in the first few hours after surgery. This helps with less bruises, swelling and early recovery.
Breast uplift surgery takes 2- 3 hours.
It is important to carefully consider the new cup size you wish to have after your surgery. It is advisable to see a few pre and post operative photos for some patients to have an idea on how your breasts are likely to look like. Of course, there could some limitation to achieve your desired size due to the current breast size, shape of your chest, thickness of the existing breast tissue, existing lateral fat, or side boob, degree of breast ptosis or drooping, and your general medical condition and suitability for a long surgery.
Preparing your breast skin with regular cleaning, skin moisturisers, topical and oral multivitamins and zinc products help improve the healing process and achieve better scars.
If you are a smoker, it is crucial to stop smoking, including other forms of smoking like nicotine patches, vapes, and electronic cigarettes for at least 4 weeks before surgery and 4 weeks after surgery to avoid post operative complications including infection, delayed wound healing and bad scarring.
Prepare yourself with a nice surgical bra to wear after your surgery for 6 weeks at least. The team can advise you on some brands to consider.
Fill your fridge with fluids and easy to cook food to avoid a struggle after your surgery.
Make sure you have a company to support you for the first 24 hours after surgery.
Following breast uplift or mastopexy surgery, patients leave the operating theatre with their dressings and garments on to the recovery bay where they spend a few hours to recover. Once fully recovered, had a drink and some food, and mobilised, they are sent home with some painkillers with or without antibiotics.
Breast uplift patients are advised to rest for a few days and avoid driving and exercises for one to two weeks if no implants were used. If implants were used to enhance the size, patients should avoid driving and exercises for 4 weeks at least.
The first change of dressings usually takes place between 7 and 10 days by a qualified nurse or the surgeon. Patients usually have their follow up with their surgeon at 6 weeks, 3 and 6 months before they are discharged.
